Whether you’re reliving the experience brought to gamers by Joel and Ellie a year ago, or heading out into this post-apocalyptic United States for the first time, our walkthrough will help you with every single detail The Last of Us has to offer. We’ll guide you to all of the Firefly Pendants, Artifacts, Comics, Training Manuals, and Optional Conversations the game has to offer, as well as give you detailed strategies to power through one of the most intense campaigns of all time. Note The collectible guides will follow the completion of the single-player walkthrough and guide. Be sure to check back! Step by Step Guide Chapter 1 Hometown – Escape and Outrun the Infected The first chapter in The Last of Us isn’t so much a gameplay tutorial as it is a true prologue and story introduction. We’ll tell you everything you need to know to complete this tearjerker, including how to fend off the Infected in the town’s streets, as well as outrun them on your way to the highway. Chapter 2 The Quarantine Zone – How to Find Robert The first chapter of the game was all about introducing the story, and while more of that happens here, it’s also an in-game tutorial. You’ll learn all the basics of combat and interacting with objects, as well as what Parts are for and how to collect them. Our walkthrough shows you how to sneak past the Infected, as well as how to reach Robert to get your guns back. Chapter 3 The Outskirts – Safe Location, How to Kill and Evade Clickers The third chapter of the game is where the intensity really gets cranked up. You’ll find yourself faced with a decent amount of the Infected, including both Clickers and Runners. We’ll show you how to sneak right through, or kill everyone and pick the area clean of all items of interest. If you’re looking for the location and combination to the safe, we have that as well. Chapter 4 Bill’s Town – Safe Location, How to Kill the Bloater This is definitely one of our favorite chapters of the entire game. It features a lot of exciting combat, as well as some of the game’s best dialog. We’ll show you how to find and crack the safe, as well as where to pick up the bow, and Tools Level 1 so you can upgrade your weapons. Finally, if you’re struggling with the Bloater, we have you covered there as well. Chapter 5 Pittsburgh – All Tools, Safe Combination, Kill the Bloater Expect that this chapter will likely be the longest of the game, and it is filled with combat from end to end. There is a lot to do, including upgrading to Tools Level 2, opening Shiv Doors, locating and finding the combination to safes and even another one of those pesky Bloaters. We will guide you through it all, including where to find the keycard and how to start the generator. Chapter 6 The Suburbs – All Tools, Weapons, Safe Combination and Location This chapter isn’t overly long, but it does feature a fair amount of combat and even some good scavenging. We’ll show you how to get through the sewers, including how to find the Shorty and Tools Level 3. When you’re out, we’ve got the location and combination for the last safe in the game, as well as a very well hidden Training Manual. We’ll even show you how to kill the sniper. Chapter 7 Tommy’s Dam – Pick up the El Diablo and Training Manual As far as we know, this is the only major chapter that doesn’t have Infected, but it does have plenty of bad guys just the same. We’ll show you where to get the El Diablo twice, as well as where to find the chapter’s Training Manuals, and even Tools Level 3 if you missed it back in The Suburbs. Finally, we’ll walk you through saving Ellie after she steals a horse. Chapter 8 The University – How to Kill the Bloater, Escape the University This chapter doesn’t feature a crazy amount of combat, but it is some pretty intense fighting when it happens. Our walkthrough will show you the only Shiv Door there is to find, as well as where you can pick up the Flamethrower. With that in hand, we’ll then guide you to how you can kill the Bloater in the dorm rooms, and escape the Hunters to complete the chapter. Chapter 9 Lakeside Resort – How to Beat the David Boss Fight The Last of Us Remastered really only has one boss fight, but it’s an intense battle that can leave your heart pounding. Our guide will show you how you can track and hunt the deer, as well as fend off the waves of Infected afterward. When you are betrayed by your new friends, we’ll show you how to win the boss fight against David. Chapter 10 Bus Depot – How to Kill the Bloaters and Survive the Tunnel The first part of this chapter is one of the most laid back in the game, while the second portion will test your nerves with no less than three Bloaters. Our guide will get you ready for the tunnel, then show you how to take out every single Runner, Clicker and Bloater. We also show you the location of the chapter’s only Training Manual, which is one you’re likely to walk right past without our help. Chapter 11 The Firefly Lab – Reach the Operating Room to Save Ellie At this point the game is winding down, but you still have to survive some of the most deadly enemies of the entire campaign. Our guide will show you how to kill all the Fireflies, as well as get your hands on the Assault Rifle. When you make your way to the top floor, we’ll show you the chapter’s only Shiv Door, then guide you through saving Ellie from a deadly surgical procedure. Chapter 12 Jackson – Game Ending and Comic Location The final chapter of the game sees players return to play as Ellie, although there really isn’t much to do. This one is all about tying off the story, as well as finding the final collectible of the game. You don’t need our help to beat this one, but you might need a hint when it comes to finding the Singularity Comic location. The Last of Us Remastered – All Safe Locations and Combinations In part one of our extras and collectibles guide, we’re going to show you the location of all four safes in the game, as well as where to find the combinations to open them. Safes won’t unlock any trophies for you, but they will give you four Artifacts, as well as a batch of other goodies that will serve you well throughout the game. The Last of Us Remastered – All Comic Book Locations and Endure and Survive This is a game known for its collectibles, and our goal is to help you find every single one of them. We thought that we’d start off small, focusing on something simple like the Comic locations and the Endure and Survive trophy that comes with finding them all. Not only do we give you the chapter each one is found on, as well as a detailed description, we’ll also show you an image of exactly where it can be found. The Last of Us Remastered Beginners Tips Every game has a learning curve, but in the case of The Last of Us, it’s more like a continuous learning journey. Even on our fourth play through two on PS3 and now two on PS4 we’re still figuring things out. Oh, and when you finally do get all 85, you’ll unlock the It Was All Just Lying There trophy for your troubles. The Last of Us Remastered – All Optional Conversations – I Want to Talk About It The characters in The Last of Us Remastered sure do enjoy talking about their feelings. In fact, aside from the non-stop dialog that the game is known for, there are 37 Optional Conversations that players can engage in as well. Of course, that’s assuming they can figure out how to trigger them. While some are fairly easy to find, others are nearly impossible. That’s where we come in. We’ll show you how to get all 37 and unlock the I Want to Talk About It trophy. The Last of Us Remastered – All Shiv Door Locations – Master of Unlocking When it comes to The Last of Us Remastered, players will spend as much time searching for loot as they will killing Hunters. Exploring and gathering up supplies is a large part of staying alive, and the Shiv Doors contain some of the best loot the game has to offer. Our walkthrough will guide you to all 13, as well as provide some visual aids if that isn’t quite enough. When you finally get all 13, we want an honorable mention engraved into your Master of Unlocking trophy. The Last of Us Remastered – All Training Manual Locations – I Got This Not only are the Training Manuals in The Last of Us Remastered helpful, they will also give you a trophy if you manage to collect them all. As with most collectibles, you can find almost all of them by thoroughly exploring your environment, however, there are one or two that are nearly impossible without help. Our walkthrough gives you detailed instructions on where to find every single manual, unlocking the I Got This trophy in the process. The Last of Us Remastered – All Weapon Locations When you’re fighting a hostile group of Infected, every weapon you can carry could be the difference between living and dying. Just in case you don’t have as many guns as you do holsters, check out our guide to all weapon locations. The Last Of Us Part II’s safe codes constitute some of the game’s most intricate puzzles, and can be difficult to figure out even for the most trained collectible sleuths out there. Fortunately for you, dear reader, I’ve been playing and noting down these codes as I go. In this article are hints and solutions that’ll hopefully lead you towards the all-important Safecracker trophy and the lovely loot hiding within each of these secure you’re just jumping into The Last Of Us Part II at launch and wish to figure out the locations and codes behind every safe in the game, read on to learn how to crack them!Spoiler alert Given that I’m touching upon every safe in the game, this article will span the entire plot of The Last Of Us Part II and inevitably reveal locations, set pieces and characters that you might not want to see if you’re just starting out. The game’s unusual structure makes guides very tricky – just know that if you’re cracking safes as you push through the campaign, please scroll with caution, and be very careful peeking in the second half of the article. Don’t say we didn’t warn you!In the accessibility menu of The Last Of Us Part II you can turn on a feature called Advanced Listen Mode. Once activated, press R1 + Circle and Ellie will ping her surroundings to find items and artefacts. If you’re a completionist I recommend you turn this on – it’s a good method to find safes and the collectibles which point you towards the codes that will crack 1 Jackson, PatrolLocation In the first chapter of the game when you’re with Dina in Wyoming. After embarking on a patrol, you’ll enter a supermarket that’s positively filled with dangerous Cordyceps spores. Once you’ve both pulled your gas masks on, head to the right and push through this new area until you find a cafeteria with a side door you can open. The safe seen featured above is in here, but you need a code. Solution The solution to this safe is quite easy to find. All you have to do is read the collectible letter on the table in the room with the safe. It will tell you that the code corresponds to the year when the writer’s dog got employee of the month at the supermarket. Sounds wild, I know, but follow your nose and head out the door, and back towards the way you came in. On the wall to your right will be a display of the employee of the month pictures. Find the odd one out and you’ll notice it says July 2013. July corresponds to 07’ in numeric terms, so the code is as below. Code 07-20-132Safe 2, Seattle Day 1, Downtown Credit Jordan Oloman Location When you’re riding your horse into downtown Seattle at the start of this section, hang left and follow the leftmost wall until you reach a little alcove you can crawl into to reach an overgrown bank from the old world which is full of clickers. It’s a nightmare… but once you’ve killed every zombie, head over to the far corner of the room and into the Safety Deposit’ area to find the bank vault, which requires a code to open. Solution On one of the corpses near the vault, there will be a collectible called Bank Heist Plans’ which talks about when the guards change, but more importantly, gives you the vault code so you can get inside. Code 60-23-063Safe 3, Seattle Day 1, Downtown Credit Jordan Oloman Location Head to the back of the open-world area in downtown Seattle to find this safe. It’s in an alcove to the right of the synagogue domed building past the checkpoint you need to climb over. Alternatively, face the courthouse and turn around. You’ll know you’ve found it when you see an overturned car and a sign for Gate West 2. Solution In this little cubby, there’s a safe on your right you can unlock using the Checkpoint Gate Codes’ note you have to pick up as part of the story in The Gate section just prior to the Downtown part of the game. The note will tell you that the Gate West 2 code is 0451, which is a cheeky Deus Ex reference Google it!. Code 04-514Safe 4, Seattle Day 1, Downtown Image Jordan Oloman Location This one isn’t hard to miss as it’s not located in an optional location. When you end up in the bottom floor of the courthouse you’ll stumble upon dead security guards and enter a police lockup. There’s a safe in here under a desk near the window. Solution All you have to do here is turn around from the safe and look at the whiteboard. The code is written on there for everyone to see! Code 86-07-225Safe 5, Seattle Day 1, Capitol Hill Image Jordan Oloman Location In the area where you stumble into a gym and are introduced to proximity mines after discovering Tommy’s horse, there’s a furniture shop you can enter. If you push through here you’ll know you’ve found the safe when you have a… curb-stomp flavoured run-in with a Clicker. In this room, there’s a safe. Solution The collectible on the noticeboard outside will tell you that you need the last five digit of Staci’s phone number. These are scrawled on the wall in the bathroom to the left of the board, next to the vending machine. Code 55-01-336Safe ?, Seattle Day 1, The Tunnels Credit Jordan Oloman Location I know this isn’t really a safe, but it makes sense to list it here as it’s certainly part of the same puzzle category! After you have your run-in with the no-good Shamblers in The Tunnels underneath Seattle, you’ll be allowed a short breather in a maintenance tunnel with a number of side rooms. If you find the room with a caged door, it’s to your left and through. In here you’ll find a locked door that needs a code to enter. Solution So this one is a little tricky, and I’m not too sure where the final piece of the puzzle is as I brute-forced it myself. On the table, there’s a clip of a paper that informs you about the code, but what you really want is a can from the vending machine right next to it which has the code attached. It only gives you the first three numbers 152, but once you’ve punched in the code into the aforementioned door, the game will guide your hand to choose four and then three to solve the puzzle. Code 152437Safe 6, Seattle Day 2, Hillcrest Image Jordan Oloman Location When you start the Hillcrest section of the game, you’ll arrive at a long street with a liquor store and a number of other businesses. There’s an alley behind the left row of shops spot the tattoo parlour and head through the back to find it and in the far corner in the top left there’s a green safe in a disconnected room where uh… actually, we’ll let you figure out what happens when you try to head in there. Solution Walk across the road from the tattoo parlour to the right side of the street and check the names of these shops until you find the pet food store and head in there. Walk around to the back through the bar and there’s a note on the left wall in the kitchen. This will tell you the code for the safe back on the other side of the street. Code 30-82-658Safe 7, Seattle Day 2, The Seraphites Image Jordan Oloman Location On your way to the hospital, you’ll see a truck on your left that you can climb onto to get into an apartment after hopping up some girders. Once inside, head left to use the workbench no further comment from me!. As soon as that’s wrapped up, head through the apartment and into a white door at the other end of the room where you’ll finda bedroom with a safe. Solution To solve this one, you need to figure out the wedding date of the couple who lived in this now-abandoned house. This seems quite tricky at first, but in the same room as the safe, there’s a calendar on the other side of the bed that’ll give you the date 10/08/13. Now, take 30 years from that, and you’ve got… Code 10-08-839Safe 8, Seattle Day 2, The Seraphites Image Jordan Oloman Location Still on the way to the hospital, there’s a section where you start swimming in a broken road, if you hang left and climb out there’s an elevated section with a supermarket called Weston’s that you can enter. Near the counter, go prone and crawl underneath into the section with the safe. Solution The code is behind the pharmacy counter outside of the room, and will tell you everything you need to know to crack this safe. Code 38-55-2310Safe 9, Seattle Day 3, The Flooded City Image Jordan Oloman Location When you get the boat in Seattle Day 3 during The Flooded City segment, there’s a section where you’ll drop down a mini waterfall and pass a forklift before the game forces you to get out to open a gate. Instead of doing that, head to the left of this flooded room to go up the stairs, then crawl under the debris in the far right corner and drop from above into the caged room with the safe in it. Solution The note with the code on it is to the left at the top of the stairs from the flooded room we told you to head up. Once you’ve got it, climb through the debris, drop down and crack the safe. Code 70-12-64 Spoiler alert We warned you, don’t go past this point if you want to stay in the dark about this game’s unusually structured plot. Only return once you find another safe after Safe 9, please!11Safe 10, Seattle Day 1, On Foot Image Jordan Oloman Location After you leap across the hanging boat and end up outside using the hatch, drop down and you’ll see a trailer. Towards the trainyard, you’ll see a crack in a concrete wall you can slip through to find a safe. Solution Go back to the trailer and smash one of the windows with a bottle and climb in. On the corkboard, there’s a pinned lottery ticket with a circled number, which the owners call “the big win” in a note in the trailer. This is your code! Code 17-38-0712Safe 11, Seattle Day 1, Hostile Territory Image Jordan Oloman Location When you reach the alley full of shops after leaving Manny, look to your left for a store called Jasmine Bakery. Head in by smashing the window and the safe is hidden behind the counter at the back. Solution To solve this puzzle, progress through the shop section until you have to leap to the other side of the street. Once you’ve done that, there’s a note in the shop to the left atop some boxes, which will give you the code. Code 68-96-8913Safe 12, Seattle Day 1, The Coast Image Jordan Oloman Location When Abby makes it to the boat, you’ll eventually head up to the second floor, what’s known as the Sun Deck. As soon as you make it up there, turn around, and you’ll find a safe in the room behind you. Solution You get the code for this safe at the end of the hallway where you pick up the crossbow. The game doesn’t really suggest that you should head down there, but clean it out with your bolts and go grab the note at the end for the code. Code 90-77-0114Safe 13, Seattle Day 2, The Shortcut Image Jordan Oloman Location When you’re heading to the hospital with Lev, you’ll pass through an apartment with a large number of rooms and a table in the middle which includes a conversation between the people trapped in the different rooms and a whiteboard. Turn around from the whiteboard and enter the room behind you for the safe. Solution The code for this safe is a combination of two apartment numbers, as noted in the Neighbor Exchange sheet you can find on the table in the thoroughfare. Head out of the complex and turn left to see the number of the apartment that is missing from the sheet, which is 304. Code 30-23-0415Safe 14, Seattle Day 2, The Descent Image Jordan Oloman Location After you fall into a pool with Lev, you’ll enter a gym. Push through until you hit a back wall, and enter the furthest room to the left, or the other side of the hall from the juice bar don’t enter the middle door as you will progress the plot – you should find yourself in a storage cupboard with a safe in it. Solution Head back into the gym area from this room and look at the wall to your left, you should see that there’s a plaque to tell people in the gym the WiFi code. Well, it turns out that the WiFi code is also the solution to the safe! Code 12-18-79 And with that, you’ve unlocked every safe in the game and the Safecracker trophy should pop imminently, pushing you one step closer to the Platinum. Congratulations! If you want to make it even harder for your opponents to locate your character, lay back on the ground. FAQMultiplayer - is it available in the game? No. There is no multiplayer mode in the current version of The Last of Us Part II. TLoU 2 only has a single player campaign to offer. Multiplayer will be available in the future. However, details about this mode have been shrouded in mystery at the moment. The Last of Us Part II is a much longer game than its predecessor and players shouldn't complain about the lack of content in the newest production of Naughty Dog studio. The lack of multiplayer may also be considered as good news for trophy hunters - the Platinum trophy can be earned just by playing the single player mode. Game length - how long is the story campaign of TLoU 2?The game is clearly longer than the first part of The Last of Us - it should take about 25-30 hours to complete the campaign for the first time, assuming that you will spend some time exploring your locations and that you won't play on the lowest difficulty level. For more information about the length of the game and its main attractions, check another page of our guide - How long does it take to run-through The Last Of Us 2?. Platinum trophy - is it hard to get it?Earning the platinum trophy in The Last of Us Part II should be much easier than in the first part. This is due to two main factors - in TLoU2 there are no trophies related to multiplayer content or trophies related to difficulty levels. The game can be played on any difficulty level, including the lowest level. Most trophies available in The Last Of Us Part II consist in finding secrets and improving the equipment of the controlled character. However, there are no trophies in the game that would require you to grind. For more information, check out our trophy guide, in which we have described every available trophy in detail. Co-op - is it available in the game? No, TLoU2 does not offer co-op mode and is designed for 1 player only. As in the case of the first part, the character we control may be accompanied in some stages by a partner controlled by artificial intelligence. In Ellie's case, it could be Dina. Unfortunately, you cannot give any commands to the AI companion, but it doesn't make any huge mistakes or flaws during the gameplay. You also don't have to protect your companion all the time. Only in extreme situations his or her life may be in danger. Chapter selection feature - is it available in the game? Yes, TLoU 2 includes "chapter select" feature. In the main menu you can choose which section of the main campaign you want to play, for example, to replay a particular chapter. As you select different chapters and stages, the game displays information about found items and achievements in the selected difficulty level. You can easily identify the stages where you haven't gained 100% of the secrets yet and repeat them in order to collect the omitted collectibles. A list of all stages can be found on the first page of our walkthrough of The Last of Us 2. Jumping on command - can you jump in the game? Yes, one of the novelties in The Last of Us 2 is the addition of a dedicated button for jumping - this is the X button. The main application of this action is to jump over smaller and larger gaps. It is worth noting that some locations require long jumps - in such cases jump button must be pressed during sprint you must hold the L1 button. Additionally, jump will only succeed if you activate it just before reaching the edge of the floor from which you have to bounce off. Choices - can I make any decisions in the game? No, the story campaign in The Last Of Us Part II is linear. You don't have any impact on the main story. TLoU2 does not allow you to choose any ending this game has only 1 ending. Also, you can't decide which characters you would like to spare or save them from misfortune. Open world - is there complete freedom of exploration? No, TLoU 2 is not a game with an open world that you could explore freely, as in Horizon Zero Dawn or Days Gone. However, should be noted that some locations in the game are semi-open. This means that different paths can lead to your destination and you can explore locations which are not connected to the main plot. The most open stage in the game is Seattle downtown, which we discussed in more detail in our world atlas. It is a fairly extensive location where you can move freely. The controlled character does not have to focus on the main storyline right away, but can explore optional spots first. Stages with a similar structure had already appeared in the previous games developed by Naughty Dog. A similar scheme was available during the Western Ghats chapter in Uncharted The Lost Legacy. Obstacle in the way - why can't I get past it? As you explore the game world, you may encounter obstacles, such as fallen trees or fortifications similar to those in the picture above. The controlled character may not be able to bypass this type of obstacles and it's not a bug in the game, but a deliberate blockade set by game designers. The solution to this problem is very simple - you have to mount a horse and jump over an obstacle. HUD - can I deactivate it completely? Yes, The Last of Us 2 allows you to disable the entire user interface or only selected elements of the HUD. You must go to the HUD tab in game options. TLoU 2 allow you, among other things, to hide the crosshair, health and ammunition information, hints, interaction icons or button icons displayed during combat. Young Ellie - does she appear in the game? Yes, despite the fact that for most of the campaign an adult Ellie is present, a young heroine also appears in selected scenes of the game. During this stages her appearance looks similar to the one known from the first part of the series. However, Ellie's model in TLoU 2 is much more detailed. Climbing stages - are they present in the game? Yes, in some locations of the game you have to complete climbing sequences. Fortunately, they are not very complex and serve more as a variety of gameplay than an integral part of it. As you climb you may be forced to use a rope or make a long jump. In the latter case, you should be careful, because a fall from a high height after a badly measured jump may result in a fall into an abyss and death of the character. For more information and advice, check out the Exploration chapter of our guide. Vehicles - can I drive them? There are various vehicles in TLoU 2 - they are used by members of the WLF to travel around Seattle. Unfortunately, you can't drive in cars, although in several stages you will have to shoot from the passenger seat. The only fully interactive vehicle is the boat, which is primarily used during The Flooded City stage played as Ellie. The heroine uses a boat in the aforementioned mission to travel through flooded areas. The majority of the boat section is linear, although there are several larger areas with optional locations you can explore. New game mode+ - does the game have it? Yes, The Last of Us 2 features a New Game Plus mode - you unlock it after completing the game on any difficulty. The NG+ mode allows you to transfer your earned upgrades and equipment. This should make it easier to replay the game and get trophies for improving all weapons and unlocking all passive skills. Swimming - can heroes swim? Yes, Ellie and Abby can swim - you have to do this to reach certain locations. Furthermore, playable characters are also able to dive in selected locations. You may need to do this to reach a neighboring location or, for example, to find a secret or some valuable loot lying at the bottom. Controls Movement. Looking at important locations - this is only possible if there is an important building visible in the distance.
